About This Collection

The goal of the Practice Coaching Program Working Group (PCPWG) is to assist community leaders interested in establishing and implementing a practice coaching program while aligning this program with the community’s broader vision for ambulatory quality improvement. Practice coaches enable more customized support for the practice than a traditional learning collaborative, allow the improvement expert to see how things work in the practice, and reduce the time away from the practice required in the traditional learning collaborative.  In a variety of contexts, practice coaches have been successful in helping practices change.  As such, the PCPWG aims to accelerate implementation of practice coaching programs and improve communities’ performance on the following AF4Q dashboard measures:

  • QI-5:  Number of Alliances that actively participate in the Ambulatory Care QI Learning Network.
  • QI-6: Number of ambulatory care practices that are involved in formal quality improvement activities related to the Alliances’ work in QI.

Who You Need to Know

Improving Performance in Practice (IPIP) is a state-based, nationally led quality improvement initiative. It brings together technology, data, and proven quality improvement methods to help physicians give their patients the best possible care. The Practice Coaching Working Group includes Alliance leaders across organizations to create a team to spread practice coaching as a method for engaging practices in ambulatory quality improvement activities. Currently five Alliances: Albuquerque, Cleveland, Maine, South Central PA, and Western NY, have created a PCPWG team to drive the development and spread of the coaching program in their community.
