Payment Reform Pilots in Wisconsin

01 Sep 2011

Health care providers, insurers, and employers have joined together through the Partnership for Healthcare Payment Reform to create innovative pilot projects to improve the quality and affordability of health care in Wisconsin.  More than 100 work group participants have designed pilot projects in acute and chronic care.  The Acute Care work group is piloting a bundled payment for total knee replacement, modeled after a similar project underway under the direction of the Integrated Healthcare Association in California.  The Chronic Care workgroup is focusing on care for adults with diabetes for its first pilot project and proposes using a shared savings model that transitions over time to a condition-specific episode of care payment.
