Humboldt Alliance Launches New Website to Help Patients
18 Sep 2014
The Humboldt Alliance’s work to improve public reporting and transparency in health quality metrics was recently featured in the Redwood Times. Aligning Forces Humboldt, in partnership with the Humboldt Del Norte Independent Practice Association, has launched a new webpage to help patients in Humboldt find the best primary care for themselves and their families. The webpage was designed to make it easy to search and compare primary care doctors' offices based on how well doctors provide certain aspects of care, services, tests, and treatments. "The latest posting marks nearly five years that the IPA has teamed up with Aligning Forces Humboldt to report quality measures to the community," said Martin Love, Humboldt Del Norte Independent Practice Association CEO.
The webpage enables patients to search and compare over 23 primary care doctors' offices across the county. The site uses two types of ratings to compare primary care quality and performance:
- Patient experience survey results from more than 340 patients show how well their primary care doctors' offices provide care. These ratings include aspects of care that are best reported by patients themselves, including how well doctors communicate with patients, coordinate patients' care and give preventive care and advice.
- Clinical quality ratings show how well primary care doctors provide their patients preventive care services such as cancer screenings and well child visits, and how well they manage chronic diseases, such as diabetes and asthma.
"We hope that people will find information on the quality care page useful to find out more about health care in Humboldt County," said Melissa Jones, project director for Aligning Forces Humboldt.
