Looking for a new doctor?

18 Jun 2014

Looking for a new doctor? If you live in Massachusetts, it’s easier than ever with HealthcareCompassMA.org. The new consumer-friendly website makes it simple for patients and their families to compare and select a primary care doctor’s office based on quality and patient experience survey ratings. By empowering health care consumers with transparent information about providers, patients are better able to make important decisions about their own care.

The site was developed by Massachusetts Health Quality Partners—the AF4Q grantee in Massachusetts—and uses patient experience survey results from more than 64,000 patients and clinical quality ratings that show how well doctors provide patients with preventive care services such as cancer screenings and well child visits, and how well they manage chronic diseases, such as diabetes and asthma.

The website also has tips and tools to help patients and consumers identify ways to work more closely with their primary care doctor to ensure that they are getting the most out of their office visits.

“The tools... help patients prepare to talk with their doctors about health issues that matter to them. These conversations can help patients understand more about their health and improve communication and collaboration with their provider,” said Mike Cantor, MD, JD, chief medical officer at New England Quality Care Alliance, the physician network affiliated with Tufts Medical Center.
