AF4Q Oregon's Public Reports Now Include Medicare Data

05 Sep 2014
The Oregon Health Care Quality Corporation (Q Corp), the leader of the AF4Q Oregon initiative, recently released the nation's first public reports on the quality of regional primary care providers including Medicare data, offering consumers more comprehensive information. The new reports are published on Q-Corp's website, www.PartnerforQualityCare.org.

Previously, Q Corp public reports gave consumers access to information on care from the Oregon Health Authority, 12 of Oregon's largest commercial health plans, and Medicare Advantage, but data on nearly 350,000 Medicare recipients was not yet available.

The latest reports address that gap, allowing Q Corp to increase the number of clinics it could feature. These new reports now include twice as many clinics. Consumers now have the ability to compare more primary care providers and clinics in their outcomes related to preventive care, managing chronic diseases, appropriate use of antibiotics, and the use generic drugs. These reports provide information on care received by an estimated 2.6 million Oregonians.

Q Corp has been publicly reporting data since 2008 and has developed a comprehensive claims database that provides information on several key quality measures. AF4Q Oregon and Q Corp's exemplary work led to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to select Q Corp as one of a few organizations in the country as a certified "Qualified Entity" under CMMS. As a Qualified Entity, Q Corp can combine Medicare claims data with claims data from other payers to evaluate provider performance.
